FLORA: Project Notes

The images in Flora are created in a darkened studio. Every image is created with an exposure of 30 seconds. I use custom made filters during a part of most exposures and use different light sources including tungsten, strobe, florescent, various flashlights, and sometimes, eventually, a ray or swath of daylight. Photographs generally take one to two days to complete. All creative affects are created in camera - in my magic box. No digital manipulation is used prior prior to printing other than exposure adjustment, color balance and contrast levels.
Images are available as archival, pigmented ink prints. They are printed with Epson Ultrachrome K3 Inks on Museo Portfolio Rag Fine Art Paper. This paper was selected after much research and studio testing. It is lush and rich delivering extraordinary detail along with high D-max and superior tonal range. It is acid-free, OBA-free, 100% cotton, lignin-free and buffered.
I chose this paper in order to meet my artistic vision and to achieve maximum longevity. It has substantial weight and a lush matte finish.
